Welcome to the official site for long distance running (LDR) records in the State of Georgia. The Georgia Association acknowledges the best long distance performances recorded on USATF certified courses in the State of Georgia. Our primary objective in maintaining these records is to provide recognition of the racing achievements of our Georgia runners. We also want to recognize race directors that formally certify their courses. This assures our runners that the courses they are running are accurately measured.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RACE DIRECTORS:
As a race director, it is your responsibility to submit results to the USATF Georgia Association Records Keeper - Joyce Hodges-Hite for state recognition. Even low key, small events run on certified courses should submit their results. Results can be submitted via disc or hard copy. The State Record Keeper will determine if any age group or single age marks were set for your event. Forms can be found at http://www.usatf.org/statistics/records/forms/ . If you are a race director, it is important that the distance you are advertising is the distance that your participants run. it benefits you to certify your course to make sure that the distance is accurate, and that there are no deviations due to construction, missed turns, or other unforeseen circumstances. For information on certifying your course, please visit http://www.usatf.org/events/courses/ .
If your course is certified, it is equally important to ensure that the race is properly timed. If you know that the potential for a course record exists (either via notice by a runner or quality of field), it is necessary that you follow proper timing procedures. For information on procedures for capturing a record, please visit http://www.usatf.org/statistics/records/
Sanctioning your event with USATF provides you with liability insurance, and national exposure through our online calendars. When a sanction is applied for through USATF, the event organizer agrees to take all necessary precautions to protect event participants.
